Valley Sea Kayaks
When Frank Goodman founded Valley in 1970, he surely didn’t envision quite how much the company would become entwined with the sport of sea kayaking.

The Anas Acuta is the kayak which really started things off when it launched in 1972. Developed from a native Greenland kayak it is still in demand 40 years later. With the Anas, then the Nordkapp, Valley became one of the first companies to produce a specialty sea kayak. The Nordkapp was famously used for the first rounding of Cape Horn by kayak, and has since been the model for many other ‘firsts’ around the globe. Valley has continued to expand their line throughout the years, producing a full range of expedition equipped kayaks including open water race boats.  Valley recently introduced the new Etain series which has been receiving exceptional reviews all over the world and has set a new standard for what the modern kayak should be.  In addition to manufacturing the highest end composite sea kayaks, Valley also has been a leader in using more sophisticated materials in the construction of their kayaks, developing the first polyethylene sea kayak, the Skerray, and now offers a full range of extremely rigid three layer rotomolded boats.

North Shore Sea Kayaks

Established in the early eighties, North Shore has always been a company happy to plot its own course. The company ethos is a simple one; to develop and produce innovative yet practical designs and thoroughly test them in real world conditions, by real world paddlers.  Within the industry and to its regular customers North Shore's approach has always been well recognized, with kayaks like the Shoreline being credited with generating a significant change in industry thinking on boat design.
North Shore has recently expanded into the polyethylene boat market, with the newly released Aspect and Atlantic models which have been receiving positive reviews by distinguished paddlers.  North Shore sea kayaks come in a standard layup and a standard range of colors.  All boats are expedition equipped with three bulkheads, recessed deck fittings and Valley hatch covers.

Valley Surf Kayaks
Valley has been involved in surf kayaking since the infancy of the sport with kayaks like the Moccasin, one of the first true high performance surf kayaks. Following the success and wide recognition of Valley Sea Kayaks around the world, Valley has introduced a line of composite and polyethylene surf kayaks.  For 2011 Valley has launched their first International class surf kayak, The Nemesis. All their knowledge has been piled into this kayak creating the most up to date and hardcore IC surf kayak on the market.  Complying fully to the new ICF rules that now allow more radical hull-forms it features a unique V into double concave hull and razor sharp rails, the Nemesis is a real charger and is the only ICF boat that can behave like a HP boat when on the wave!

Valley Surf Kayaks will be the main sponsor of the 2011 World Surf Kayak Championships in North Carolina.

Big Dog Kayaks
Launched in 2009, Big Dog Kayaks are entirely dedicated to the production of innovative white water kayaks.
Although the company is new, the key names in the Big Dog story need little introduction within either trade or paddling circles. Peter Orton, Jason Buxton and Andy “Snakey” Whiting have all held down influential development and managerial roles within the paddlesports industry. As paddlers they have represented the country on countless occasions. Many of the kayaks already accepted as benchmarks within white-water, sea, surf and squirt paddling were designed or developed by one or more of this team. Despite Big Dog being a new venture there are few other companies anywhere in the world with this level of experience on their books. Many companies are diversifying into other areas of paddlesports, leading to inevitable compromises within their organizational and development teams. Big Dog has only one focus, making the very best white water kayaks available!
